The Anti-corruption Act will enter into force within ten days, National Assembly Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva said during her meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. She informed her guest that the Bulgarian Parliament has reaffirmed its adoption today.
“It is my honor to welcome you to the National Assembly, the building carrying our national slogan, also chosen for the slogan of the Bulgarian EU Presidency”, said Tsveta Karayancheva. “It is of key importance that you are here at the very beginning of our Presidency so that we can discuss the EU's agenda for the next six months”, she added.
The Speaker of the Parliament assured Jean-Claude Juncker that the Bulgarian parliamentarians feel a big responsibility towards the Parliamentary dimension. “We will be working together with the Government so that Bulgaria can be a constructive and correct mediator in the forthcoming important European debates”, said Tsveta Karayancheva.
The Speaker of the Parliament added that she will continue working for consensus between the parliamentary political forces on the Bulgarian EU Presidency topical issues, so that everyone could participate fully in the debates on the European agenda.
European Commission President Juncker gave a very high appraisal of the organization of the Bulgarian Presidency and of its Parliamentary Dimension. He congratulated the Parliament and the Government for their ambitions to integrate the Western Balkans to the Union.
“I am certain that the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU will be a success”, said Jean-Claude Juncker and expressed the eagerness of the European Commission to provide any support to our country in this endeavor.
