The Chairman of the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order at the National assembly, Mr. Tsvetan Tsvetanov and the Chairman of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs at the European Parliament, Mr. Claude Moraes will open on 19 March 2018 the Meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol (JPSG).
Both chairmen will co-chair the fourth event of the Parliamentary Dimension of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union starting at 8.30 h in Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture congress centre.
The Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol (JPSG) is the only form of oversight of the functioning of Europol by the European Parliament, together with national parliaments. This is the second meeting of the group after its constitution. Host of the forum is the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order.
Participants in the event will be the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Ms. Mariya Gabriel; the Commissioner for the Security Union, Sir Julian King; the Executive Director of Europol, Mr. Rob Wainwright; the Chairperson of the Management Board of Europol, Mr. Pritt Parkna etc.
A PRESS CONFERENCE with Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Mariya Gabriel, Claude Moraes, Sir Julian King and Rob Wainwright is scheduled to take place at 13.00 h in Hall 6 of the National Palace of Culture congress centre.
Presentations on the topic of Past and future Europol cooperation with the Western Balkan countries will be made by Mr. Oldrich Martinu, Deputy Executive Director of Europol and Mr. Vladimir Rebic, General Police Director at the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia.
Particpants will discuss the Draft Multiannual Programming of Europol 2019-2021 and exchange views with the Executive Director of Europol, Mr. Rob Wainwright. The Chairperson of the Management Board of Europol, Mr. Pritt Parkna will provide up-to-date information on the work of the Europol Management Board with a special focus on the Europol External Strategy 2017-2020.
The Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Ms. Mariya Gabriel will make a presentation on the topic “Countering illegal content online and optimizing cybersecurity: Europol’s Cybercrime centre and the EU Internet Referral Unit”.
The Commissioner for the Security Union, Sir Julian King and the Executive Director of Europol, Mr. Rob Wainwright will speak about Europol’s contribution to the fight against terrorism and the prevention of organized crime.

At the beginning of the meeting media will have the opportunity to shoot pictures in Hall 3 of the National Palace of Culture. Then journalists will be able to follow the conference on monitors placed at the press center next to Hall 6 of the National Palace of Culture, where pictures can be made.
