Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva spoke with the Bulgarian European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel. The working meeting took place in the building of the European Commission in Brussels. At the meeting, the Speaker of Parliament and the European Commissioner praised the main priority of the Bulgarian Presidency, the European prospect for the Western Balkans. Tsveta Karayancheva and Mariya Gabriel agreed on the idea that the countries from the region should be judged by the efforts they made and the reforms they implemented.
It was mentioned that the European prospect for the countries from the Western Balkans was an additional guarantee of security not only in the region, but in the whole of Europe. The Bulgarian European Commissioner praised highly the forthcoming meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Scrutiny Group on Europol in Bulgaria. Mariya Gabriel emphasised that she would be pleased to contribute to the event together with European Commissioner for Security Union Julian King.
Tsveta Karayancheva commended the Bulgarian European Commissioner for her successful work in digital economy and society.
Mariya Gabriel emphasised that more resources were needed for digitalisation in the next multiannual financial framework and reiterated the importance of digital skills, cybersecurity and supercomputers.
