What is the Parliamentary Dimension

The Parliamentary Dimension is an integral part of the Presidency of the Council of the EU. The role of national parliaments within the rotating Presidency expands after the Lisbon Treaty. The Presidency Parliament facilitates and promotes the cooperation among national parliaments and the European Parliament.

Through interparliamentary meetings and conferences, as well as national events, such as roundtables, workshops, information campaigns, public lectures, seminars, and discussions, the Parliamentary Dimension provides a good opportunity for:

  • more active involvement of national parliaments on topics from the European agenda;
  • cooperation among national parliaments, the EU institutions, and other organizations;
  • exchange of good parliamentary practices and development of parliamentary diplomacy.
